for sure. We have built our own routers over time as once you start
needing some serious routing, the CISCO's are the way to go, but, you
are paying 10x's the price than what we think is normal.
We just get a high end PC (PPRO 300 for eg.) and whack in several
100Mbs ethernet cards. They can run BGP with no problems. Also, the
memory is damm cheap and you an use what ever interface you like! :)

Are you multi-homed up there?
We do network management and VPN facilitiation - therefore the
backbone (ours) needs to be efficient in the case of things like
outages on one of the pops.
BGP is the only thing (i know of) that will do the job (?).
