Re: (ASCEND) K56..



Of course not. (:-))  Go into Diagnostics mode and then
type in the diag command "modemdiag".  This will turn
on modem diagnostics and when someone terminates a call,
you will get about 15 lines of stuff which includes the
line quality metrics.  A value in the teens is where
you want it to be.  Make sure that you enter in 
modemdiag again to stop the monitoring when you are done
so that your buffers to not fill up.  This is not
advisable and makes the Ascend do more work than necessary.

I learned about this one from talking with Tech support rep
who came on site to help me with this problem.
When in Diag mode, you can do a help and see what commands
are available.  You can also do a "help ascend" and see even
more commands.  BEWARE, these are generally Ascend Engineering
commands, so they could cause damage if you don't use them
correctly.

I am doing this on my MAX4004s with V5.0Ap33, if that makes
a difference.
