Re: (ASCEND)56K

We had 48K connections regularly on our CT1s going into USR boxes. we did se
an improvement when we switched to PRIs but that I suspect was what happened
when we switched from MCI to back BellSouth for local service. the entire
time one of our employees was able to connect at 53K by using a 56k modem
connected to a bitsurfer. it didn't matter whether he was dialing into a CT1
or a PRI.

I think USRs X2 code is better that this Kflex stuff because it has been
stable for months. while Kflex is still being tweaked.

Either way, the deciding factor is the length and quality of the last 18,000
feet of copper. if the CO is on your block you will get 53,333. if you live
18 miles from the nearest telephone pole and the phone company has to
multiplex calls down your dirt road to give you a second line, you will
scrape by to be able to even get 33.6k
