since Release 5.0, I often have problems with system software upgrades. Sometimes the reboot after nvramclear fails or some settings have been changed. To upgrade the system software using TFTP I follow exactly steps 1 to 5 as described in the release notes. The MAX 1800 sometimes hang after entering nvramclear in step 5. Then after disconnecting from power for a short time the unit reboots and starts working without any configuration changes. I have this problem with several MAX 1800. With the pipeline 50 I often have the problem that the Switch Type setting is changed from UK/NET3 to another after an upgrade (from 5.1Ap1 to 5.1Ap4 for example). With the MAX 1800 "RIP2 Use Multicast" is set to "Yes" after upgrading from software without this feature. So RIP2 stops working if not all units have this feature enabled. This are only some examples. This problems are very annoying because remote upgrades are very risky...
