Good Day All About a year ago we added a second E1 to our Max4000. We were suprised to find that the new E1 was completely ignored when plugged into socket 'WAN2'. It works fine in 'WAN3' but not in two or four. We havent had an adequate answer from Ascend as to why this is so. We were told that we will need a HDLC32 card to activate sockets WAN2 and WAN4. This doesnt sound right after reading some posts to this group. >From articles Ive read, I get the idea that all WAN sockets should be live, but a HDLC card is needed if the number of active ISDN calls exceeds 64. Also, we get occational degraded performance with our Max. We commonly have 35 ISDN 64K connections and 10 PSTN 28.8K connections (via our two 12 port V.34 cards). Is the processor in the Max 4000 up to this kind of load ? Will it be able to handle 60 ISDN and 30 PSTN calls (given three E1s) which we will soon have ? Will we need a HDLC card ?
