Re: (ASCEND) 4000 Series Underpowered?




 Not true, I terminate 3 PRI's into each one of my maxes to get about
72 Connections, Toss in some ISDN w/ that also, 

The 4004 did have major problems w/ the old V.34 cards, Because they
ran all PPP setup and other things on the central processor, (I960) and
well honestly it was just a little too much and the box began to 
choke up around 45+ calls. 

To correct this Ascend has moved alot of that PPP setup down to 
the actual modem card so it offloads the central CPU and allows it
do focus on other important things such as routing :)
