RE: (ASCEND) Making IGP work on a Max

I am not sure why everyone is giving the Maxen such a bad rap on OSPF.
I only use it on a few of them, but I have not had any problems using
OSPF between my Cisco 7500 series routers and Max 4048s. I have not
tried it with my TNT...

Subject:	(ASCEND) Making IGP work on a Max

We are currently switching to an IGP. The choice has
been made to go for
OSPF. Now after some investigation, it appears that OSPF
on Max is
suboptimal to say the least ;-)

Upgrading has been considered, but can't be paid for.
;-)

Now I am considering if it is feasible to run RIPv2
(which appears to work
on the max) on the Ascend equipment, and redistribute
those routes to OSPF
with the next router (which is a Cisco anyway, maybe
we'll put each Max
exclusively on a ethernet port of a cisco if it needs to
be done)

		Would this work?

I know this is kind of painful(sick?;), but I need a
working, scaleable
		solution with our current equipment...

		Sincerely,
		    Lars Marowsky-Brée
