Re: (ASCEND) Ascend SNMP browser

We use mrtg to capture radius stats. It's public domain,
runs on Solaris - maybe some other Unix
variants. Guess it could be used as well on Ascend snmp
variables. We use mrtg to query cisco router
           mib variables currently. -Michael

           Hi,

I just tried t follow a link from ascend's web page
(outside support). I ended up at www.loop.org which listed
kit@connectnet.com as a point of contact for the "Ascend
SNMP browser". Anyway, I tried to pull down webcall using
           ftp://ftp.connectnet.com/pub/wwwcall, which failed because
it's no longer there. A quick review of the Ascend mailing
list reveals a similar request/problem about a year ago
(with no response). Additional searches with Ferret,
Altavista, Dejanews, etc. failed to provide any useful
leads. Has the distribution site for this software changed?
Has the software been pulled from public distribution? Am
I just trying to chase down old cruft because I'm 18 months
behind reality? Or, does ascend just not update and verify
their own web page very often?

Also, e-mail to Will Pierce (willp@dreamscape.com) with
reference to buying his web based SNMP software (
           http://noc.dreamscape.com/aview/) go unanswered. While I
realize that I could probably slap together web based
management tools myself, I don't really have the time to
re-invent the wheel. Besides, I like the idea of buying
very reasonably priced software to help others help
themselves (see his web page for a full explanation).

The reason for all this confusion and tail chasing... we're
outsourcing our customer support and I need to have simple,
familiar, customizable, safe tools for people that will be
helping the customers. I'm sure that I will not be the
only person on this list who has done something similar and
I would be interested in hearing how other people have
           approached the customer support problem

Thanks, in advance, for any assistance you might be able to
            provide...
