RE: (ASCEND) Busy Signals (max 4048)
Troy,
I don't know about the busy signal, but for the auth problem try going
to the diagnostics screen on the Max and typing RADIF. This will give
you the RADIUS authentication information as users log on. Successful
authentications come back with an Ack 02 response from RADIUS plus any
configured RADIUS attributes, whilst password failures will be Ack 03.
If it is timing out you will see multiple authentication requests going
to RADIUS but nothing coming back. I believe LAN security error is the
normal error for wrong password. With the number of failures you are
getting you should be able to look through the responses and be able to
see whether your RADIUS is timing out or whether you users just have
"chubby fingers". Additionally, if you have multiple RADIUS servers
configured, watch under the system screen to see if it is switching
between them as this is often a sign of trouble. A timeout of 30s
should be ample in most cases.
A word of warning! Turn RADIF off after use (typing the command
repeatedly toggles it on and off) - I had a Max 4000 crash because I
forgot overnight!
