ARP cache, because the Maxes are Proxy arp'ing for the static IP addresses
which are borrowed from the LAN, I would guess.

The solutions are "don't do that" (my prefered solution), or arange to
have the ARP caches expire more quickly.

By "don't do that" I mean, take the Maxes' IP addresses (both static and
dynamic) from elsewhere than the address space from the LAN, and use a
routing protocol, not Proxy ARP, to route the addresses to the correct
maxes.
