All has been well with 6.1.24 (febik.m40 build) except for one nasty
problem: after ~2wks of uptime modems slowly start going unavailable in a
"csum" state (just checked the 6.1.24 box: with uptime of 19 days it's
down 2/48 modems).

AFAIK, nobody else has reported this problem so it might be something
peculiar to the box I upgraded - OTOH, maybe 19+ days uptime isn't too bad
for a MAX4000 that's working fairly hard ;-).  Apparently there was some
extra modem-checking code in 6.1.24 that wasn't in 6.1.7 and that's what's
tripping up these modems.

I'd love to compare notes with anyone else who's seen this problem.
