(ASCEND) Max 4k, DNS & Win98
I recently changed my DNS from one hosted upstream to a local server. I kept
the old server as secondary on the MAX, so I figured users who specified a
DNS address wouldn't be impacted, and I could have them switch whenever they
got around to it.
It seems Win98 has other ideas. Although setting Win95 clients' DNS to
server-assigned picks up my MAX's Client Pri DNS setting just fine, Win98
comes up with 0.0.0.0. If I specify the local DNS in Win98 DUN, the client
can connect, but immediately gets dropped with a c=11 p=63 code. The only
way to get them to work has been to specify DNS not in DUN, but in the
network settings for the TCP/IP protocol on the dial-up adapter. We've never
had to configure these settings at all for Win95, what gives?
Is there any way to overcome this from the MAX's end?
