(ASCEND) Radius + DNIS = Ip Pooling ??
Can radius be used to hand out ips from different pools based on DNIS and still authenticate with a normal radius profile?
How? Example entries would be very helpful.
We have several maxen with PRI's that have multiple lead numbers setup and implementing call forwarding paths to extend POP coverage areas. We are trying to find a way to monitor the usage of these call forwarding paths so that we know for sure when to add more paths to a particular group using the PRI's. I was thinking that maybe we could have radius hand out ips from different pools based on DNIS (which is unique for each hunting/forwarding group already). Then just modify the expect scripts we are using to create our mrtg graphs so that we can monitor ip/pool usage to get the used-paths/available-paths usage for the vPOPs.
Under TAOS 6.1.24 Ethernet > Answer > Id Auth has a new option "Called First" that I cannot find in any of the max manuals or documentation (even the newest off the ftp site)? I'm hoping this is to allow something along the lines of
9125555927 Password="Ascend-DNIS"
Ascend-Require-Auth=Require-Auth,
Ascend-Assign-IP-Pool=1
9125555375 Password="Ascend-DNIS"
Ascend-Require-Auth=Require-Auth,
Ascend-Assign-IP-Pool=2
at the beginning of our users file and then just let it fall on down and authenticate off of the existing radius profiles. A quick test didn't seem to work?.radius logged errors along the lines of "9125555927 is not a valid username"??so I may just have the syntax wrong (seeing as how this isn't documented anywhere)?.or maybe we need a newer radius server (using DTC?modified ascend radius)?.or I may just be headed down the wrong track on this problem altogether.
Has anyone else found a way to monitor remote call forwarding paths in hunt on the same pri as a local huntgroup?.... or know how to use Id Auth = Called First ??
Thanks for any suggestions,
Scott McDonald
