(ASCEND) Suppress host routes
I donīt know, if that is a classic, - sorry if so.
Until yesterday, we see all 240 host routes of our dial-in-users (modem
and ISDN) in our whole routers and switches-routers on the LAN. (Because
these host routes are quite dynamic, it can be worse for modern
route-caches-concepts, which may have to rebuild the cache, if routing
changes.)
So we decided to suppress those host-routes in our MAX-equipment
(2x [MAX4k, 7.0.22, 2x E1]; 1x [MAX-TNT, 7.0.22, 4x E1]) with the
"pool-summary"-option, which itself needs network-aligned address pools.
We have found, that if we were using network-aligned address pools, a
static route is advertised to the LAN, which is wrong:
For example: pool xxx.xxx.248.129 ... xxx.xxx.248.254 with
pool-base-address = xxx.xxx.248.129 and
assign-count = 126 (=pool-boundary -2)
creates static route: xxx.xxx.248.128/32 -> Ascend-Router, which can not
work because of the "/32". It should be "/25". So we turn RIP off at the
Ascend and do the correct static route:
xxx.xxx.248.128/25 -> Ascend-Router
(and Ascend-Router -> default-gateway)
which works.
Now the question: Is this behavior due to 7.0.22 (is it a bug) and if, is
it fixed in a later release?
