(ASCEND) ISDN over 24 Channel T1
At long last, I have my first ISDN customer trying to connect to my maxen,
and he is unable to establish a connection.
I have 3 6096's and 1 4048, all stacked, all configured as close to
identical as possible. All of the 14 T1's going into these boxes are
24-channel (not PRI -- its not available in this area) . I have one single
dial-in phone number that rolls into any one of these 336 channels. Until
today all my users have been dialing in using analog modems.
I use Cistron radius for authentication, and have set up nothing unusual in
the user profile other than to set the Simultaneous-Use = 2
I was under the impression that my Maxen would be able to differentiate
between an ISDN call and an analog call and preform the necessary
negotiations.
The customer is using a Diva Lan Modem 810-156 provided by the local telco
(Sprint). The message returned by this device is: "PPP could not negotiate
LCP. Is your username and password present?" A Sprint technician also
tried to call in with ISDN and said it would not connect. He indicated that
he thought the dial-in line(s?) might not be digital. I wasn't the one who
talked to him, so this comes to me second-hand.
We were able to get this customer connected to our cross-town competitor who
uses the same type of T1 lines, same Cistron radius, but uses Portmasters
boxes.
Does any one have any ideas what I may have overlooked?
Thanks for the help!
