89.3 compile problems on SunOS

OK, folks... I'm running SunOS 4.1.3 and gcc 5.2.6. I xmkmf, and make Makefiles
and make depend. So far, so good. I get to the big make, and all goes well
until I run into this...

rm -f crossfire.bdf crossfire.pcf
./xbmtobdf -name crossfire -f bmaps.paths -d . > crossfire.bdf
././arch/system/bug.111: No such file or directory
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `crossfire.bdf'
Current working directory /usr5/source/crossedit-0.7/lib
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all'

The bmaps and bmaps.path both make mention of "bug.111". Something
is obviously screwed here. Any clues??
