These ideas for light are superb, and would go a long way to making
crossfire an all-time classic game. It would certainly add a lot of
perhaps the only thing crossfire lacks - atmosphere!

Creatures with infra-vision like elves and halflings should be able to
make out the monsters or anything warm, but the walls should still be
cloaked in blackness, since most of them would be cold and wouldn't
emit any detectable infra-radiation. So, only the creatures would show
up while most of the room would be black - does this sound right to
everyone? Of course you've then got the old AD&D problem - does an
elf have both infra and normal vision going at the same time, or do
you have to swap between the two (automatically or manually)? We'd
have to make a decision and then stick to it...
