Makefile error in crossfire-0.91.2...

Hi,
        Im trying to compile crossfire-0.91.2 on a HP9000/700.
Unfortunately a makefie error occurs:

> {mpefcp3} % xmkmf
> imake -DUseInstalled -I/usr/local/common/lib/imake
> {mpefcp3} % make Makefiles 
> making Makefiles in ./common...
> making Makefiles in ./doc...
> making Makefiles in ./doc/spoiler...
> Make: line 460: syntax error.  Stop.
> *** Error code 1
> 
> Stop.
> *** Error code 1
> 
> Stop.

I have changed the crosssite.def file, but I dont see that it would
produce this result.  I havent changed any of the makefiles.
Any ideas ??? Im not an expert on makefiles :)
