The pcmcia_cs utilities should recognize the card.  Out of the box, RH5.2
will not.  You will either want to grab the most recent version of
pcmcia-utils or download my hacked RedHat kernel package with limited
support for the 3Com pcmcia adapters and apm support:

By the way, this generally goes without saying but "use at your own risk
since they're distributed with no warranty."
