RE: [TCLUG:7474] Semi-off-topic: Speaker noise

The easiest way to check for screwed up outlets is also the laziest - stop
at Home Depot (or wherever) and pick up an outlet checker. They are little
multi-sided cubey things with indicators/light combos on them. Plug it in,
and it tells you everything (wrong) about it. Everyone should have these in
their desk drawer, they are practically necessary at funky warehouse lan
parties. You would not believe how often people f*ck up wiring.

I have absolutely no idea how to check these things... did I mention this
is an appartment building? I guess I could get them to check, but, again,
the speakers have a 2-prong AC adapter. I did plug it into several surge
protector strips plugged into various outlets and got the same results.

I'm also curious as to why no OTHER device has any interfearance
whatsoever.
