Umm..  Your grammar is a little funny in the first sentence, so I have to ask,
did you install multiple 3c509s? (not that it would necessarily have anything to
do with the error message..)

If you do have multiple cards, make sure they are set up in non-PnP mode, with
different IRQs and IO addresses.  Also, make sure they aren't stepping on any
IRQs used by other devices (IRQ 5 is commonly used by sound cards, for
instance).  Also, it's probably a good idea to just get one card working, then
put the  other in..
