Shared memory motherboards

In my attempts to evangelize people here on campus, I've run into trouble
with trying to install Debian on motherboards with built-in video using
shared memory. Namely, it can't boot because the ramdisk gets screwed up.
Is there a way to get this to install, and if it does will it work?
