modems, jumpers, and modem blaster 56kflash

I'm looking at modems and I can't find any that have jumpers on them to
override plug and play settings (or at least they don't say they do). Is
this a problem? Will any non-win-modem work, or do I need jumpers? 

Also, I was thinking of getting Creative Labs Modem Blaster 56kflash --
anyone have any experiences with it?
