HELP!! CAN'T BOOT

I compiled the new kernel, did all the stuff, run lilo and then rebooted the
system. When shutting down it said "unmounting filesystems" then NCP error
-99 and then another ncp error -111. It then hung there for over 10 minutes.
I pressed the reset button on my computer (what else could I do?). When I
rebooted I got "LIL+" - a lilo crash. I have redhat 5.2 and used the
rescue disks (boot, then rescue) to boot. I mounted my root partiation
/dev/hda1 and copies /etc/lilo.conf and /boot/boot.b from hda1 to the floppy
disk. I ran lilo and is said is didn't know what to do with device 0x100
(something like that - same message whether /dev/hda21 was mounted of not).
I then got a win95 boot disk, a booted to linux with loadlim and a default
kernel for rh5.2. On boot, it crashed at remounting root filesystem
read-write.

Please help!!! I don't know what do to.
(When I booted to the rescue disk I ran e2fsck and it fixed some stuff, but
hasn't helped me).

Thank you so much,

Ben
