only if you disable encrypted passwords on all workstations, and pass
authentication onto your passwd file.. normaly (current 1.9.something) and
higher use /etc/smbpasswd file to store teh special windows encryption
format.. there is a wrapper in the smb.conf to allow /usr/bin/smbpasswd to
update /bin/passwd to update both password databases.  linuxconf passwd
supports both (symlink passwd to /sbin/linuxconf)  this might be wrong
with redhat 6.. but it should work something like that
