print serving

Hi everyone,

I'm finally getting around to setting up my new print server. It's
actually an old DEC P120 server. It should have plenty of horsepower for
my little network.

I decided to have a little fun and try something new. So I downloaded and
installed LPRng as an alternative to the old fashioned lpr package that
came with Mandrake 6.1. I'm having a little trouble getting it to work,
and I wonder if any of you have any experience with LPRng.

BTW, one of the reasons I chose it is that LPRng supposedly makes it easy
to have your printing clients print directly to the print server without
having lpd running locally. This makes sense to me from a sysadmin
perspective. Also, the added security and configurability seem a plus.
Anyone want to take a shot at a question or two? Perhaps I'll send another
email outlining my situation.

Later,
Tim
