Re: [TCLUG:10106] ftp on Mediaone



I installed this about 3 weeks ago.  The FTP issues are not resolved.
This is not something easily fixed anyway.  There is the issue with the
fact that the cable modem is assigned 2 IP addresses.  One for the cable
end (downstream) and one for the telco end (upstream).  Special software
will have to rewrite the TCP headers to get that to work.  This is
different than NAT where it translates across interfaces, although the
software would be similar.  I suspect that they simply use a bridge and it
probably would require a major change to the modem to run NAT and add this
change to it.
