strange errors in messages file

Periodically I have been seeing error messages display on screen. I checked
my messages file and the same errors are listed there. Here is what I've
been getting:

Nov 30 04:02:05 spot kernel: hdb: read_intr: status=0x59 { DriveReady
SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
Nov 30 04:02:05 spot kernel: hdb: read_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError
},CHS=175/11/10, sector=98409
Nov 30 04:02:05 spot kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 03:41 (hdb), sector
98409
Nov 30 04:02:05 spot kernel: EXT2-fs error (device ide0(3,65)):
ext2_read_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=12417, block=49204

Also, periodically upon reboot I have had to run fsck, but I don't think I'm
using all of the correct options to fix whatever the problem is since it
keeps on re-occuring.

What does this mean? How can I fix it? I'm currently using Red Hat 6.1.

Thanks,

Jen
