However, the TNT2 doesn't have direct support like the Voodoo cards do. 
The TNT has to deal with the overhead of the X protocol, while the
Voodoo cards have more direct access via the Glide libraries.

Better support for the Riva cards is coming, but if you want the best
performance for Quake, my recommendation right now is the Voodoo 3.
