Minicom

having some trouble in X-windows.  Minicom works fine on its own but when I 
access it from X-windows, it's sets up fine and gives me the "ok" but the 
keyboard commands don't work (Alt-Z, or D,...)  It simply types the letters 
I hit rather than performing the intended function.  Alt-Z which should 
bring up the menu instead gives the the "u" with the hyphen over it. I've 
played around with the kbd_mode settings but to no avail.  Again, if I don't 
access Minicom from X-windows or nxterm, it works just fine.  Any ideas?
