nfssvc failure fixed

For those who care, my kernel problem has been fixed.

The problem was that a had Red Hat Linux 6.0 freshly installed on a new
server. I downloaded and built the latest kernel, and found that the NFS
daemon would not start.

Tim Wilson was kind enough to help me debug, and told me I had to turn on
NFS support in the kernel. Unfortunately, "make config", "make menuconfig"
and "make xconfig" did not allow me to enable that option.

After a quick search on deja.com, I found out that one must turn on the
very first option to allow experimental options. This then enabled me to
select the kernel NFS support, and all is now well.

With that in mind, do most people turn off NFS for security reasons?
