Apache - virtual and proxy

Does anyone know if it is possible to run apache as a proxy server with
virtual hosts? I would like to set up a reverse-proxy which redirects
the request to various machines based on which servername they access.

EX:

internetuser --> http://proxy1 --> http://internalserver1
internetuser --> http://proxy2 --> http://internalserver2

But proxy1 and proxy2 would be virtual servers on the same webserver.

Is this possible?
