Why would a person get duplicate messages like this:

Sun Microsystems Inc.   SunOS 5.6       Generic August 1997
You have mail.
Sun Microsystems Inc.   SunOS 5.6       Generic August 1997
You have mail.

when connection with secure shell. The profile script, which cats motd
("Sun Mic...") and checks mail, seems to be called twice. Is there
something I can tweak to make this call profile once, or do I just have
a weird problem here? TIA for any advice,
