Okay, then I'll try to decipher some of the important parts for you ;-)

Okay, you're running the SVGA X server. Below are all of the cards it
supports

Something needs to be done about how your display is defined.. I'm not
sure how this is done on laptops, but I'm sure someone else around here
can help. Below are all of the resolutions that were ruled out by the X
server as decent candidates for your configuration. If your display was
correctly defined, this list would probably be a lot shorter ;-)

Wow, you even killed the really low resolutions ;-)

> (**) FontPath set to "unix/:-1"

Below we have various information about your video card. A Chips &
Technologies 69000 with 2048 kB RAM. I see that Brian just mentioned
there doesn't seem to be a monitor detected, but that's probably
referring to the VGA out on the back of the laptop. A few lines later
it mentions "LCD", then "Display Size: x=800; y=600". Now someone just
has to figure out how to set the correct resolution there..

The resolution/bitdepth information is right here:

And this stuff is just various little tweaks that are turned on because
it is using acceleration on your video card.

We're now at the end of the X server startup. The rest is Gnome and
other stuff..
