I've got a 4-port Belkin OmniCube; and it's a good switch...it does
have a few flaws with it, tho. for instance, the hotkeys don't entirely
work. normally, one should hit <ScrlLock><ScrlLock><port #> to change to a
given port. on mine, however; switching to #1 and #2 work fine, switching to
#3 and #4 don't. if I go to port #2; and try they keys for #3, it does
nothing. if I try the keys for #2, it *then* takes me to #3. same with #4...
I can go through the whole cycle, by just keying for #2 each time. (although
keying for #1 always takes me back to #1).
do you suppose they put the chip from a 2-port box in this 4-port unit?
in any case, it doesn't matter, since I just reach out and thumb the
physical switch button anyway.
this thing still beats the crap out of the Linksys abomination I tried at
first. that thing would make the screen blurry/jiggly; and cause the mouse
to occasionally go spraying around the screen randomly. :(
I hear BlackBox has the best KVM switches... but you'll pay accordingly. :)
