I don't think that would be a very good idea.  One, because secure shell
is already a well established program.  Two, because just about every
ssh program that I've used can also be used as a regular telnet program,
also.  They don't interfere with each other - just leave sshd and telnetd
running on your box.  No problems.  Use ssh whenever you have an ssh
client lying about, and telnet when you only have a telnet client.
