Although it's expensive, I use the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer.

It's an optical mouse, extremely sweet, by far the best mouse I've ever
used!  They'll set you back about $60.  Microsoft has a plain Intellimouse
with the optical technology without as many extra "features" (and it just plain
doesn't look as cool!) for only $40. 

Optical == No moving parts == Long lifespan on this rodent.
