UPS?

The power blinked off in my dorm room this morning (and was apparently
completely out in other places on campus) and it brought me to thinking
about the perennial issue of uninterruptible power supplies.

The issue has been brought up in the past, but it's always good to come
back to something after a while, if only to see if anything has
changed..

I've got a system that is probably a little more power-hungry than a
Best Buy Special: 3 IDE hard drives, 1 CD-ROM, 1 CD-RW (with a SCSI
card), 1 AGP video card, 1 3D accellerator, 1 Ethernet, and a sound
card. Also, I've got a 15" Sony monitor that would be running off the
UPS. Nothing too spectacular..

Anyway, I'm hoping to find a relatively inexpensive supply that will
support my computer for 10-15 minutes. I'd like to have one that is
'intelligent' and can report its status back to my computer via serial
link (preferably a serial link that comes in the box, unlike APC's(?)
cables).

My budget would be up to around $200 (but I'd be much happier around
$100 if at all possible).

Just curious what you guys might have for suggestions.
