In my experience, no.  $DISPLAY seems to take care of itself, at least under
Debian.

Log on to B.  'xhost A', 'telnet A', and (on A, via telnet) 'xterm'.  The
xterm should appear on B's screen.  If not, the error message should provide
some clue as to the problem.
