could you be looking for /usr/bin/pppon or /usr/bin/pon? Not sure what RedHat uses, since the distro smokes quite a bit of crack, (insert shameless Debian plug from the Debian Deciples here), but that would be my buest guess. You could try the modem lights applet and see what command it runs be default.
