I ran lilo and all is well.  It now sees all 80MB (boy does that cut down on
the disk thrashing!).

Red face!  I forgot to run lilo after making the change.  I will try that
tonight when I get home.  I did mention that I am a newbie.

Sorry, I have to ask: you're running /sbin/lilo after changing the
"append" line, right?
