Re: [TCLUG:21269] Beginning - Language Perl or Python?
Well said! [Of course the first programs I got paid to write were in 6502 machine code. Nasty little, and I mean little (8K including data!), programs.]
On the topic at hand. I've done a little work in both languages. The advantage Python has is the CP4E project that Guido [Von Rossum, python inventor] has started. It stands for "Computer Programming for Everyone". The goal is to make Python the prefered language for teaching beginning programming. One "unofficial" step on that road is the book "Learning Python" I haven't used it myself but the consensus is that its a great book with a lot of good code. Its an O'Reilly and it has a mouse on the cover.
What ever you decide, good luck!
