RE: [TCLUG:817] VRAM requirements for X

I'd like to place my vote for a bunch of good ol' Trident or Cirrus Logic
(perhaps Tseng Labs?) cards. I've used cheap trident cards quite a lot, and
they're bullet-proof, well-supported by X-Free, easy to find, etc, etc.

A simple check on Pricewatch.com reveals that new ones are around $30-40
(too bad...PCI is actually cheaper!!)

I would imagine that if you went to one of the local "junk" (read: old used
hardware) computer stores around here, you'd be able to find a ton of 'em
for real cheap. I can't remember any store names off-hand...I could come up
with a couple if needed.

Unfortunately, you're about 8 months too late! My company threw away dozens
of them late last year. I took a few home, but didn't think I'd ever have a
use for more than that...I think I only have one left!
