Proposal, comments anyone?

Interesting proposal:

Allow only strictly diagonal games with two teams. In the current static
galaxy setup, it means Fed vs Kli or Rom vs Ori only.

Because this scenario reduces the race combinations, move the quadrants
randomly at end-game (but preserve the planet positions and resources
within each quadrant). Fed vs Rom would be possible if their quadrants
happened to be placed diagonally.

To compensate for the greater distance between the two teams, allow more
players per team (say 10-12 instead of 8). Maybe even SB twarp.

This changes the game mechanics significantly, but I'm not convinced
that it is strategically less challenging. For example, the lighter
ships (SC, DD) may seem more powerful in penetrating enemy space because
of their speed, but this advantage is negated by the necessity to fly
much further. And while penetration into enemy space becomes much
harder, the increased number of players should make it possible.

Comments? Anyone see any serious flaws?
