(ASCEND) Pipeline 75 - Provision/voice feature questions.
As per documentation, I provisioned my ISDN line for a P-75 (5.1Ap4)
using the basic "S1" code and (I think) everything behaved pretty much as
described on page B-3 of the User's Guide, "How incoming voice calls are
handled." In particular, when I used the router to dial my ISP, log on
and get email, surf, etc... the (analog) phone plugged into the POTS
would ring if that number received a voice call.
Unfortunately, I didn't get call forwarding as wanted. Ascend support
said the "U" code would also work for the P-75 and supported premium
calling features over the POTS jacks. So, I called Ameritech, tried to
make sure that the only difference would be added features, and changed
to "U".
Now, a voice call to the primary number gets a busy signal if I'm
connected to my ISP (one channel) and call forwarding _still_ doesn't
work. Ameritech is saying everything is behaving exactly as it should at
the switch. I found the following differences between the S1
configuration and what I have now with, supposedly, the U
(National/NI-1 5ESS switch, by the way).
Circuit Switched Data (CSD) S1=2, U=1
CSD limit S1=2, U=1
CSD Notification Busy (NB) limit S1=1, U=blank (?!?!?)
Would this account for the changes I've seen in the way incoming voice
calls are handled? Are there any Ameritech customers out there who have
been here/done this - been able to get call forwarding with analog phone
on P-75 POTS?
thanks.
