(ASCEND) MPP on Pipeline 50

I'm having a problem getting a P50 to use both channels with a Max 4048.
It's an older one with a switch in the back.  I had it receiving calls from
another pipeline  and using both channels just fine.  I have since
re-configured it to dial into my Max 4048.  It places the call and connects
okay but when I try to get it to call out on the second channel nothing
happens.  I have MPP configured and have tried everything I can think of. I
even checked with the telco to make sure that it was provisioned correctly
and it was.  What I really need it to do is automatically bring both
channels up and stay up.
