(ASCEND) pipe 50 password reset

Anyone know how to reset a pipe 50 password?  Official documentation from
Ascend says to jumper jp1 and you get a prompt... so, I jumpered jp1, but it
just boots to the normal screen (btw - it says jp1 by the green LED, but
there's no green led on there).  Any ideas, anybody?
