RE: (ASCEND) BGP 4 ? (fwd)

Once upon a time Joe Shaw shaped the electrons to say...

It is stored in a radix tree. To take one full view and do the BGP setup,
etc, we use approximately 5MB. Then each additional full view adds approx 2MB.
We use the existing data structures with additional data. We've had an IRX
114 running 4 WAN ports with full BGP on all 4, using around 14MB of RAM.

A 'full view' in this case was approximately 45K routes at the time.

The PM series take RAM as 1, 4, or 16MB incriments. So 16MB is the first
step with enough. (The PM-3 starts at 4, and go to 32MB (or maybe 64MB,
no one has needed to...))
