You confirmed what I read in the manual. I followed all the logical steps in the manuals examples but seem not to be able to establish a IP route to my server. The topology is really simple Home PC --------> Home pipe --->/\/---> office pipe ------> NTserver 208.205.255.154 208.205.255.153 208.205.255.41 | 208.205.255.40 | -> Office PC's 208.205.255.44 --- 75 all devices share the same net (208.205.255.xxx) There is no other router on the office network. Subnet mask at home is 252 Subnet mask office is 0 About 30 PC's connected to the office network in the range of 208.205.255.44 untill ...75 All with subnetmask ...0 and a few with default gateway ...41. All the others have no default gateway (I think). No devices in the address range 208.205.255.0 untill 39. I only want to connect to the NT server, and access our office LAN resources. No need to go to the internet. That is why I used (until I get something better) the Ascend test addresses. >From home PC I can ping ...154, ...153 and ...41 but not the NT server ...40 >From the home router I can ping the same addresses but I can't ping the NT server, nor does it appear in IP addresses or IP routes >From the office router I can ping ...154, ...153, ...41 and ...40 and all other workstations on the net so I presume that the office router does see the NT server although it does not show up in the Ip route or IP address tables. None of the officeworkstations can ping my home router nor my PC. It looks like the office pipe is blocking the route between my home PC and the office network. Where am I going wrong in the IP addresses or is it something else? Do I need to build a subnet in my office ? Just accesssing the LAN resources in the office from my home PC Should I build a subnet on the office side with the pipe on ...41/30 and the NT server on address ...42/30 so that there is really no other route for the packes to go. Doing this, what happens to the communication between tbe NTserver and the rest of the PC's? Or should I build a net with the pipe on ...41/26 and the NTserver on ...42/26 and having the range from ...43 to ...102 available for the other machines?
