We've found experimentally that this behaviour changes from release to release - we make use of captive telnet sessions, and it's one of the things we test on our staging POP before putting in production. :) We find best performance with term serv/telnet mode=binary, and buffer chars=no. Buffer chars=yes gets erratic performance, and to get a clean 8 bits you need the "binary" mode. There are equivilents on the TNT - but they don't work well. Again, the behaviour changes dramatically from release to release - as of p13, with buffer chars=yes things barely work - with =no (surprisingly) things don't go at all. :( - -- Josh Bailey (mailto:joshb@xtra.co.nz - GroupWise mailto:j6bw@telecom.co.nz) Internet Network Specialist Voice (DDI): +64-9-355-5923 Telecom Internet Services Voice (Mob): +64-25-514-899 Extension: 93423 (Lvl. 4, 120 Mayoral Dve) Fax: +64-9-355-5260 Private Bag 92028, Auckland, NZ Pager: +64-26-114-448 PGP public key available at http://www.pgp.net/pgpnet/pks-commands.html DISCLAIMER: Viewer discretion is advised. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: noconv iQB1AwUBNHh/M/le+GEe9W4hAQEsvQL9HRswEZH1ApeWw0lfxNjtROiS44DTxKWh GftJ2waHCyrB9wSVDDFtOe2jY06iz6TZSpE+ua4Tkf1PcaPkJN90m82Netkn94Sj VSJY8XeLal+JW5lT5ko6kXXgqBzP7+ea =A0YA -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ++ Ascend Users Mailing List ++ To unsubscribe: send unsubscribe to ascend-users-request@bungi.com To get FAQ'd: <http://www.nealis.net/ascend/faq>

Follow-Ups:

Re: (ASCEND) Problems using an 1800's K56 modems with uucp

From: Larry Williamson <larry@mitra.com>

Re: (ASCEND) Problems using an 1800's K56 modems with uucp

From: Larry Williamson <larry@mitra.com>

 References:

Re: (ASCEND) Problems using an 1800's K56 modems with uucp

From: "Oliver J.
